A young Tiger Woods bagged his first-ever PGA Tour win here in 1996 when he beat Davis Love III in an intense playoff.
October 6th marks the 25th anniversary of that historic day, when he won his first of a massive 82 titles.
Known by several names, it was earlier known as the Las Vegas Invitational.
In 2007, the Shriners Hospitals for Children took over from the Las Vegas Founders as the organizers for the event. Since then, it has carried the current title.

During an interview post-victory, Woods was seen in high spirits and talked about his win. When asked if he ever thought this was possible, he said, “Kind of, but it’s really hard to describe the feeling because. I don’t know why, it’s just been a hard struggle, and I’ve fought all the way and then won in the end. It’s been a great feeling, that’s all I can say.”
The interviewer ends by saying, “There’s going to be a whole bunch more.” Well, he wasn’t wrong. Woods take his tally up to a staggering 82 wins, which are the joint-most in PGA history.
